A good way to re-import changed metadata in xmp

I have a question where I know some answers, but I'm looking for the simplest one.

I have a folder in IMatch with around 2000 files, all nefs (raw).
I then entered some metadata like gps, description.
Then I saved everything so that all this data is present in the xmp file.
Then I copied the folder with all 2000 files, in Windows Explorer, to a USB storage device.

At home I imported these files into a new IMatch database, everything is fine. And now I have a single metadata tag, headline, described (the name of the person in each case).
Then at home I wrote all 2000 files back into IMatch, so that all 2000 xmp-files are now changed.

Now my question: what is the easiest way to get all the files back to the main computer, with the names (headline) inside?
One possibility, I think, would be relocate, but I'm a bit unsure because I rarely do that.
Couldn't I just delete all xmp-files on the main computer and replace them with the new ones (with headline)?

Of course this question is not important, if there were only 50 files, I would have simply reimported the files.
Best wishes from Switzerland! :-)

Writing back rarely only changes the XMP file. There are checksums and digests updates in the original file, timestamps to synchronize and several XMP files have counterparts in EXIF/IPTC stored directly in the image (headline has not).

Why bother? Why not copying all the 2,000 files + XMP sidecars back? Copying 2K files takes very little time using today's computers.

Thanks, Mario, superfast answer!  :)
Perfect, in this case I will exactly do so.

Maybe, when I really do exact the same files replace (nef and xmp), then it should work fine, with all collections and so on.

Hm, I guess, even not necessary to relocate. Well, I will see it, when I am again on my main-computer.
Maybe I was a bit anxious, because I have to give peoples the correct Names in the headline, and to do this for about 600 persons, it seems easy.

PS: But nowadays, at least for me, it is difficult to write names like

Mihrije Bajraktarovic
Thivakaran Wannakukorala

Peter Gerber or Barbara Müller is a lot easier for me.  ;D

When you replace existing files with copies, IMatch will detect that they have changed and re-import them. This will bring the metadata you have added on the other computer into the database (unless metadata protection kicks in).

No relocate or anything required.
The location of the file has not changed, you are just replying over versions with the updated versions from the other computer.
