Rescan says "No" after I copy a new Directory into the database

I copied a new directory (UK)  into IMATCH 5 (I'm copying a few at a time and then testing) and then I looked into properties (see the attachment) and the "Rescan" does not change from a No to a Yes.  Is there something I must do before this flag changes?

Thanks!

IMatch intentionally delays marking folders for updates because other applications often make changes to folders and files and then keep them locked for a short time afterwards. This is why IMatch maybe waits 10 or 20 seconds after you have made changes to a file in a folder contained in your database before it runs the rescan.

When you add sub-folders under a folder indexed by your database, IMatch does not automatically add this folder to your database, unless you have enabled the Include sub-folders option under Edit > Preferences: Indexing.

Hi Mario!

Thanks for the reply.  I do have the "include sub-folders option under Edit>Preferences:Indexing" checked.

I just tried it again by copying a new directory that I use from 3.6 into Imatch 5.  I have waited 15 minutes so far and nothing has changed (it does not say yes to rescan).  So, I closed Imatch 5 and then reopened it and it still says "rescan=no".   I have attached a screen capture of the directory I copied over called "MISC".

Let me know if I am doing something wrong.

Thanks Mario!!

Have you tried just hitting <Shift>+<F5> on the top-level folder?
Or just dragging the new folder from Windows Explorer to the Media & Folders View to add it?

Please enable the Debug logging in IMatch: Help menu > Support > Debug logging.
Then add another folder under your top-folder (on the same level as misc).
Wait a short while and then Help > Support > Copy Log file and attach it to your reply (zipped please)
This will tell me if IMatch is recognizing the added folder and maybe why it does not ingest it.

I just made a test. I opened a folder already in my database in Windows Explorer. Then I copied another folder into this folder. After a few seconds, IMatch marked the existing folder as "pending" and started adding the new folder to the database. So it works in principle, but not on your computer.

Mario:

I don't know what caused this but once I hit Shift + F5 it immediately changed from no to yes and was highlighted in orange.  Now, everytime I copy a directory to Imatch 5 it takes about 10 seconds and it changes from no to Yes just as you say.  Not sure what that Shift + F5 did but now it works fine.

Thanks!

Michael

Shift+F5 is the keyboard shorcut to rescan a folder.

Tip: You see all shortcuts for commands listed in the menus.
Tip: The IMatch Quick Start Guide (Help menu) has a handy cheat sheet with all frequently used keyboard shortcuts. Print it out  ;)

Sorry, my fault  :-[

I had to look this up in the IMatch 5 help myself:

You need to enable the Advanced file system monitoring option if you want IMatch to automatically add sub-folders created outside of IMatch. See the help on Indexing configuration for details.
