Hi
I have a problem to get the date of the attached picture correctly into IMatch.

Just for the background:
This is a picture of a slide-Image (Dia). I use my camera to digitise my slides.

So the working steps were the following:

1) Making a NEF-Image of the slide
2) set the Geoposition and Created Time in Geosetter (as you can see the Date-Created in the Exif is 1994:07:12, which is also the GPS-Date
3) Importing the NEFs to Lightroom for development and let Lightroom make this JPG
4) Import the JPG to IMatch

When I import this one to IMatch, "Data created" will be set to 18.10.2014 (which is the date where I took the digital picture).

Why is this so and what can I do to set the "Date created" to 12.07.1994 automatically?

Information display in IMatch: MetaData-Panel -> Default Display, Core Data, Date Created

As the GPS Data/Time is correct, is there a way to overwrite the "Date created" and "Date Digitised" with that Data?

I see that DateTimeOriginal was set to 1994:07:12, but EXIF Created Time and IPTC DateCreated was set to 2014:10:18.

Make sure you have checked "Get From Taken Date" in Geosetter for "Created Date". See attachments. You might have to adjust the Time Zone (here, since it was taken in Norway, it does not matter much)
You need to do that before the images were imported to IMatch, 'cause otherwise IMHO IMatch equalize the date tags.

EDIT
additional you should allow to create internal XMP in Geosetter.

To add to what Joerg said above, Mario has often said that metadata is a mess. Date/time metadata is even worse, which can make it difficult to accomplish what you want.

I use slide and flatbed scanners to digitize film/print images, but the issues are mostly the same as you're encountering. If you're willing to use IMatch as the initial step in your image processing, there are two ways to get the original date into your photos:

1. Use Commands/Image/Modify EXIF date and time. Note that you can separately set Original and Digitized date and time. In your case, you would only want to set Original date and time, so the date/time you digitized your images would be preserved.

2. Set up a custom metadata template with the 'proper' date/time fields. See https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=1129.0 for more information.

When ingesting the metadata of a file, IMatch fills the XMP date and time tags with information extracted from existing EXIF/IPTC metadata in your files. IMatch here applies the recommendations of the Metadata Working Group. Your file contains the following timetamps:

EXIF:

[ExifIFD]       Date/Time Original              : 1994:07:12 15:50:27
[ExifIFD]       Create Date                     : 2014:10:18 15:50:27
[IFD0]          Modify Date                     : 2014:12:12 20:48:11

IPTC:

[IPTC]          Date Created                    : 2014:10:18
[IPTC]          Time Created                    : 15:50:27+02:00
[IPTC]          Digital Creation Date           : 2014:10:18
[IPTC]          Digital Creation Time           : 15:50:27

EXIF data is added by the camera, scanner or another device. IPTC data is added by humans or other processes. IPTC data is thus considered as more recent or more important and thus overrides the EXIF timestamps. This is what happens here.

Your file contains different EXIF and IPTC timestamps, and the IPTC timestamps win when IMatch fills the XMP metadata. Suggestion: Either don't fill in IPTC timestamps or keep them in synch with EXIF, whatever process or applications you use.

Especially when you use multiple applications (GeoSetter, LR, IMatch) it is important to synchronize metadata in the proper way and, if all applications in your workflow support it, to apply the MWG recommendations (IMatch does this, LR too).

Hallo, genau das wäre auch mein Vorschlag. Erstelle eine 'Metadatenvorlage'

Thanks a lot, that was the thing I missed to set
