I know that the IMatch Viewer is able to display up to 8 different image files at the same time.  Can I, however, have the viewer just display only 1 image, but twice, so that I have the same photo at two different zoom levels, for instance?

Why would you want to look at the same image at different zoom levels simultaneously? You can zoom so quickly that there should be hardly a need.
Do you know that you can zoom at any level by holding down the <Alt> key and then  moving the mouse?

The Viewer is too clever. Even if you bring the same image into the scope multiple times (e.g. via categories and the hierarchical display option in the file window) it lists the image only once.

I know that I can quickly zoom to any magnification of the image by holding down the <Alt> Key while simultaneously moving the mouse with the left button depressed.  How, however, do I configure IMatch to zoom without the left button of the mouse being depressed? 
The reason, I wanted the same image displayed twice at different magnifications, is that I want to created a single image file, consisting of the original image and a crop of something from that image on top.  The functionality I describe would thus let me get a feel for how the composition would look.
