To select a file in the file window, left-click it. This will also make the file the focused file, indicated by a yellow border.

To select multiple files, use left-click to select the first file you want to select. Then hold down Shift and left-click the last file you want to select. The File Window selects all files between the currently selected file and the file you click last. Why can't I get more then one file to select? I followed the directions up above. One I left-click it the top left image. Then I held down Shift and left-click the last file the top right.

This looks like it worked?

In your second screen shot you have selected the four files in the first row - they show with a dark red background.
The last file in the top row is focused and selected.

Look at the caption bar above the file window. On the right you see two numbers: The first number tells you how many files there are in the file window (474) and below that how many files are selected (4).
