Since some time when I start IMatch 5.8.2 I quite often (not alwyas!) get the message "New ExifTool version found". I click <Ok> and then IMatch continues to start as always. So no negative impact. I am just wondering why this message pops up frequently. I do not believe that the ExifTool is changed every day?

ExifTool is only changed when I ship an IMatch update.
This sounds to me as if your database is read-only or the import process cannot complete for some other reason.

Did you check the IMatch log file afterward for Errors ( search for E> ) or warnings (W>) ?

I can't find anything in the in the IMatch log file (which I opened via Help/Support/View Application logfile). The only change I made recently, was to copy the IMatch database file to my SSD drive c:\ and access it now from C:\
Interestingly enough the message doesn't appear always. And I don't think that the database is now ion right protected mode. This must have an impact, when I use it, right?

The log file contains information about whether or not the database is read-only.
And it also logs when a new ExifTool version is found, and then it logs information about the update process for the database. And whether or not it completed successfully.

When this happens again, secure the log file afterward (Help menu > Support > Copy Logfile). Then ZIP and attach to your post. This should tell us what is going on.

IMatch writes:

File date of installed ExifTool differs from recorded timestamp. Update required.

This means that the "last modified" timestamp in the file system of ExifTool.exe is different from the timestamp IMatch has recorded in the database. Do you have software which updates the "last modified" timestamp of files? Usually this never happens. IMatch finds a new ExifTool version, imports it, updates the database with the version number and the "last modified" timestamp of the file and that's it. This timestamp should only change when the executable file is replaced. Which is only done when you install an IMatch update.

No, not to my knowledge. Again the only change I made recently, was copying the IM database to my fast SSD drive.

Strange. This message is only logged when the 'last modified' timestamp of exiftool.exe is newer than recorded in my database.
On my system, the dir command for exiftool.exe reveals:

11.01.2017  11:01         8.210.855 exiftool.exe

I think this may be caused by a glitch in the IMWS installer. It is a bit older than IMatch and may ship a slightly older exiftool version.
And when you switch between IMatch and IMWS on the same DB, this causes the problem.

Copy the exiftool.exe from the IMatch folder to the IMWS folder (replacing the exiftool.exe there). The exiftool.exe in the IMatch folder should be newer.

You were right. Both Exiftool files were slightly different. Have copied the IM exiftool to the IMWS directory. The message ""New ExifTool version found" didn't showup again. Guess this was the solution.

Let me emphasize again: your support is second to none! Thanks for your help.
