iMatch 2017.5.6, Windows 10 Pro

Installed on Laptop running version 1607 with no problems.  Works exactly as expected with no problems discovered so far, but noticeably faster.

Installed on desktop running version 1511 and received the above subject error message.  There is no  iMatch_IMWS_ErrorLog.txt file in the Temp folder.  Changed ports which still produced the same problem.  Uninstalled and reinstalled with same error.

Otherwise, iMatch runs fine on the desktop.

Screenshot of error message and iMatch6_Log.txt (startup portion) are attached.

This usually only happens if the port is already used by another application.
The IMatch log file or the IMWS log file will have additional info. Check your TEMP folder for files named IMATCH_*.txt.

netstat does not show the port in use.  Tried several ports with the same result.  The iMatch6 log file was attached to the previous post.  There is no IMWS log file.

Please check the file system permissions for the folder

C:\ProgramData\photools.com\IMatch6\config\

and all files in that folder. IMatch reports that it cannot write to the file

C:\ProgramData\photools.com\IMatch6\config\imws-storage.db

which may be the reason for your problem.

You can check the permissions of the folder in Windows Explorer. Right-click, Properties.
Make sure that "Users" have read/write privileges.

This is such an unexpected error, there is not even a dialog box for it...

That's it.  The config folder did not have write permission for users.

It is marvelous when you deal with a person who is dedicated to his work.  Thanks.

I checked the installer and it explicitly does grant privileges to this folder to all users. Strange. Should have worked out of the box.
On the other hand, Windows file system permissions sometimes work in strange way... ;)

If the installer sets the permissions, then the re-installation should have fixed the issue (before the reinstall, I deleted the left over folders from the previous installation).  I think that we can agree that Windows 10 is not yet a stable environment unless all applications are provided by Microsoft, continuously updated and seldom used.

Thanks again.
