Updating Keywords happens twice

I am using XMP:dc\Subject\Subject\0 in order to enter keywords (uncontrolled) as indexing. I try to delete a keyword from an image via the keyword panel and then try to update the record. Screen says 'Updating' and the keyword is removed from the image record. But then it says 'Updating' a second time and then the keyword comes back. Is there a way of removing keywords from a record?

Thanks

Mario

Please attach a sample file which exhibits the behavior and let us know which software you used to process the file before.
When we can see the metadata in the file we can tel you how to fix the metadata.

Attached is one of the files. I can see via Windows Explorer that there are the two keywords in 'Details' that Imatch has the problem with. I must have put them there either via Picasa (no longer supported) or ACDSee (which I have also evaluated but it does not supported ITPC Extension - Persons Depicted). Also Imatch has written 'This is a caption' into several fields. I wonder if a lot of problems are caused by mismatching/mapping between the many standards EXIF, XMP, ITPC, Dublin Core and others?

Many thanks

Alan

The attached file has no keywords or other metadata.
Please ZIP the file before uploading, else the community software may re-encode the file, stripping all metadata.

Thanks. In Explorer I have deleted the Keywords in Properties - Details - Tags and now imatch doesn't do the 'Updating' twice and the tags don't reappear. (I guess imatch deleted the keywords (tags) and then rescan the image file and the Windows Tags got priority and got written back.) In getting to grips with all the fields it would be useful to have a mapping of the fields in EXIF, XMP, ITPC, Dublin Core and windows Properties, if one exists anywhere.

Thansk for your help.

Usually all this is automatic.
On import, IMatch imports existing IPTC, EXIF, GPS, XMP, performs the required mappings between the common metadata standards and produce a final 'super' metadata set. In IMatch you only work with the hierarchical keywords, because they are the master keywords. During write-back, IMatch synchronizes hierarchical keywords back into the flat XMP and IPTC keywords.

This only fails if there are non-synchronized keywords and IMatch cannot put them straight using the settings you have made. This happens usually only when you have used software on the files which only updated parts of the metadata, but did not properly synchronize between the co-existing metadata formats. Different Windows versions handle metadata differently, bot none version does it right. I would not recommend using Windows Explorer or anything produced by MS to change metadata in images.
