10.2 consistently crashed when double-clicking an image to start the viewer. Seems to be solved in 10.4. Did you know about such a problem?

This problem has been reported and forced me to build and ship the 2018.10.2 update.
The release notes for IMatch 2018.10.4 explain this.
Always worth to check out the release notes after installing updates.

I know, just didn't get to there in the short time.
I saw 2018.10.2 was out, downloaded and installed it. Found the problem. Went back to the Forum to check if anybody else had reported a similar thing, which is when I saw that you had already released 2018.10.4 ... Installed that and the Problem was gone.
I hadn't even had time to read the release notes of 2018.10.2 yet!

I just wanted to add my praise for the improved pdf handling. I really like the new thumbnails, it makes finding a particular pdf much easier.

I knew you would like it. You've sent me two of your PDF files for testing and I good very good results.
The previews are always produced at 300 DPI so we get a suitable (and readable) size for preview and the Viewer.
