Could someone please explain how to view ExifTool output after an operation involving versioning/keywords etc.

Start here: The Output Panel

Remember: Propagation is a two-step process:

1. If there are pending write-backs for the master file, IMatch first writes back the master.
This also causes a re-read of the metadata of the master into the database (post write-back reload).

2. Then IMatch creates commands for ExifTool which copy the data you have specified in your propagation rules from the master to the versions.
The versions are also re-read to get the current state of metadata back into the database.

The commands IMatch sends to ExifTool (which files are processed, which groups/tags are processed etc.) are logged to the ExifTool output panel.
