Face detection: The problem with the IGNORE marking

What happens if a newly added and identified face is also found among the faces marked as ignore?
IM could remove the ignore marking if it finds a match - but since initial scans have many mistakes this
would un-ignore a lot of faces.

Maybe we should have a "Don't ask me to identify this face" marking besides the "ignore" marking.

Or should we have a Scan also among the ignored faces command?

Mario

I don't understand.
If you deliberately ignore a face in an image, the AI does not consider it for person assignments when it reclusters unconfirmed or unassigned faces. That's all.

That is what we need to be able to override - if a person which we formerly marked as ignore suddenly does interest us.

So we need to instruct IM to:
for the current face search through all the ignored faces and see if there is a match. If so then remove the ignore marking.

If, however, we use a "Don't ask me to identify this face" marking instead of ignore  then IM could automatically scan these faces
when a new face needs to be found.

Why not just un-ignore and assign a person?

Or do you want a feature that tells IMatch to, for any person in the database, re-check all unconfirmed or unassigned faces again?
This can take a very long time. Much longer that you just assigning a person to the now no longer ignored face.

Or, use the corresponding command on one or more selected persons to make IMatch search for them again: Finding Faces for Persons

Assume we have 1000 ignored faces. I now un-ignore and identify on of these. How do I find the
other (say) 5 faces that are among those marked ignore?

Mario

Why do you have created 1000 ignored faces?
IMatch never ignores faces by itself. So you have manually ignored all these 1000 faces?

And isn't there a FR (https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=9740.0) for a filter for ignored faces?

QuoteWhy do you have created 1000 ignored faces?
Because I do not want to be asked to identify these faces - I don't want them
appear on the list of unidentified faces.

Mario

Why don't you just delete the unwanted face annotations instead?
Or do you constantly modify files you have managed and finalized and annotated in IMatch in external applications so IMatch has to re-import and re-scan for faces?

If I want to confirm faces and I find a wrong face is shown then I only have two options:
- I can immediately assign the right name to the face
- I can mark it ignore.

I can name ignored faces at a later time. And a ignored face can be picked up later when
it  matches a newly identified face. (The need for this is mentioned elsewhere).

Deleting won't allow this.

You don't need to confirm faces. You can just leave it be, in the unconfirmed state.
